With no chance for success, you would not hunt. Without the prospect of failure hunting would have no merit. I don't hunt to kill, I kill because I hunt. Remember a moderate hit is lots more effective than a high powered miss. Best of luck.

Chizzler Season 2010 starts

Bounty Hunter 6 and I went out to see if the chizzlers made it through the winter. They were running all over the farm when we arrived in Beryl, Utah. We did our best to rid the farm of the little profit stealers but I doubt we made much of a dent in the population. I dropped some peanuts on the ground as I was reloading and shooting as fast as I could. A chizzler came over on the "bait" so I had to stop that with a .22LR. I think the chizzlers are really hungry and lonesome after their long winter nap. I am so jazzed to think of the coming months hunting the vermin. (This is not the big hunt, the BIG HUNT is going to take place in Namibia real soon.)

Howdy,

I have enjoyed your posts, especially about chizzlers.
This will be our 4th year shooting the little buggers, and also the earliest we have gone. We are concerned that we may be a little early since we will be there on the 22nd. What are your thoughts on that? We concentrate on the Enterprize valley area north to Beryl Junction, and over to Modena. Have you been out since your March 18th shoot?

Thanks for the blog,

Brad

It has been too cold and it recently snowed in Beryl Junction. Few if any chizzlers. I am hoping for better weather and better hunting the week of April 19th.

We were rewarded for waiting out the cold weather. On Friday, and Saturday we were in the fields between Enterprize, and Beryl Junction. Lots of chizzlers were scurrying about. Over 1100 of the little buggers bit the dust thanks to 3 shooters, and .17 HMR. We saw several other hunters enjoying the action. On Saturday two tone Ford PU with a couple of shooters in the bed were whooping it up near us. Could that have been you?

Ah! the sight of an airborne chizzler. Better than a NASA lit off.

I totally agree an airborne chizzler is awesome. Try hitting one with a .223 or a .22-250 and the red mist is also way satisfying!! Keep up the good work Brad, some one has to save agriculture from the little varmints.
